Welcome Back!
The felony charge against Bobby Griswold was dropped over the summer. He was
fined $500 and 8 months probation. We are thrilled to hear this exciting news and
wish the best for Bobby and his family!
Senate Bill 452 which includes language to reverse the law passed unanimously
through the Oklahoma House and Senate and was signed into law by Governor Brad
Henry on May 21, 09. This was a huge victory for teeth floaters in Oklahoma!
Two seperate interim studies were held in in early November, which allowed our
legislators to hear testimony from both sides of the spectrum. The first study,
entitled "The Illegal Practice of Equine Dentistry in Oklahoma" was held on
November 5th. State Rep Brian Renegar, DVM, McAlester, initiated that study, which
was held under the public health forum. The second study, headed by State Rep
Don Armes was conducted on November 10th under the Agriculture and Rural
Development forum. The purpose of this study was to take a long hard look at
Oklahoma's archaic Veterinary Practice Act and to help our legislators better
understand the difference between what should be considered "normal acts of
animal husbandry" and what should be considered "the practice of veterinary
medicine". Horsemen from all over the state attended both studies and we believe
committee members from both studies have a better understanding of our situation.
The next step in the process will be to introduce a bill that will allow teeth floaters
and other animal care providers such as massage therapists, farriers, hoof trimmers,
etc. to work freely in the state of Oklahoma without fear of being charged with a
crime. For more information and news links regarding the studies, please visit the
Oklahoma Equine Dentistry Law website.
At this time, we can work in any vet clinic or in the field as long as a veterinarian is
on hand to provide adequate supervision or if the owner has a written prescription
for our service. Veterinarians who respect the wishes of their clients realize the
importance of professional dental equilibration in horses and are usually happy to
oblige with this request. If your vet does not respect your wishes, then perhaps
it's time to find a different one. We wouldn't be able to work if it weren't for the
veterinarians who realize the importance of our job and support our work.
We are Equine Dental Technicians, not veterinarians. We have been professionally
trained specifically in Equine Dentistry. At this time we can ONLY work under the
direct supervision of a veterinarian. If you would like to make an appointment,
please contact your vet for approval before contacting us. We will need to schedule
a time that your vet will be available to come to your place or that we can meet you at
his/her clinic. Hopefully by the end of the next legislative session an agreement will
have been reached by all parties and we will be able to work freely. At that time we
will be happy to make farm calls. Thank you for supporting us! We work very hard to
provide the best equine dental care available through consistency and continuing
education!
Proper dental care will add many productive years to the performance, showing and breeding career of your horses.

Because we are professionally trained Equine Dental Technicians (NOT veterinarians) we cannot work without veterinary supervision at this time. We perform dental work for several different veterinarians in Oklahoma and are happy to speak to yours about our services as well. We are happy to work in any vet clinic as long as a supervising veterinarian is available. Many Oklahoma equine hospitals and clinics utilize the services of non-veterinary dental technicians for their clients' dental needs. Fewer than 15% of Oklahoma veterinarians provide this service and there are nearly 400,000 horses in this state, which is why the services of non-DVM dental technician's are sought after by the horse-owning public. You should NEVER use an Equine Dental Technician who did not come highly recommended from someone you know and trust. Knowledge is key.

WHAT WE DO
The number one goal of any equine dental technician should be to help provide optimum dental care for
all horses and to educate horse owners on its importance - which is what we do!
We use the most modern techniques and equipment on the market. It's not enough anymore to just
"float" teeth and there's much more to it than just pulling the tongue to the side and taking a quick look.
We use a full mouth speculum, which enables us to conduct a thorough examination of the entire mouth
as well as to reach far into your horses mouth to eliminate all of the hooks, points, sharp edges and other
problems that cause horses discomfort and pain. We also utilize the most innovative tools available and
are proficient in the latest techniques, which allows us to complete each job efficiently, causing little to
no stress for the horse and a much better overall result. We thoroughly check each horse's mouth for
occlusion during and upon completion of our work to make sure that he/she will get the most use from
his or her mouth.
We offer a complete mobile service throughout Oklahoma and across the United States. Certain
restrictions may apply.

Our website was down for a few months
and we apologize for any inconvenience.
As you may know, the law was changed last
November and teeth floating (by anyone
who is not a veterinarian) became a felony
offense in the state of Oklahoma. On March
4, 2009, well known rodeo star and fellow
equine dentist, Bobby Griswold, was set-up
(by the Oklahoma Vet Board) in a sting
operation and was arrested and charged
with a felony for floating a horses teeth.
Since his arrest, we have been working
diligently with our legislators and have been
successful at getting the law reversed.
